Grassrivers (Everglades)
Sprawling subtropical wetlands and mangrove swamps south of Lake Leonida, home to airboats, wildlife, and contraband hideouts.
Wild swamps and mangroves
Grassrivers is one of Leonida’s six official regions and Rockstar’s version of Florida’s Everglades: a maze of grassy rivers, mangroves and shallow channels covering the southwest of the map.

What official footage has shown
- The first trailer devoted several scenes to the swamps, with water, mud and very dense subtropical vegetation.
- Airboats, the propeller-driven boats typical of the area, appear.
- Wildlife, with alligators as the star, is part of the region’s identity.
The real-world reference
The name plays on the Everglades’ nickname, the “River of Grass”, popularized by journalist Marjory Stoneman Douglas’s 1947 book, published the same year the national park was created. It is a huge, very shallow wetland through which water slowly flows south.
